Youth Exchange in Berlin

Within the framework of the “PIROUETTE Phase 2” project, an international Youth Exchange was held in Berlin from 18 to 22 May 2026. This exchange brought together 30 young participants from seven countries—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland, Germany, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine—to engage in a transformative artistic and educational journey. A core component of the exchange was the “Global Home” workshop, a three-and-a-half-day social art experience facilitated by Masterpiece for Good. During the process at the YAAM venue, participants worked with vintage suitcases filled with objects found on the streets of Berlin. By treating these objects as traces of identity and migration, the youth developed fictional personas and collaborated in new intercultural constellations to create six “social sculptures.” These installations, which translated abstract questions of displacement and belonging into tangible art, were showcased in a performative exhibition at the CABUWAZI circus tent at Tempelhofer Feld—a symbolic location reflecting histories of arrival and departure. The central event of this exchange was the “Performance Night,” held on 21 May, dedicated to the artistic works developed during a series of “Global Art Fusion” workshops across the partner countries. The programme comprised six performances addressing diverse global and local social issues. These works were the result of a months-long structured process, during which participants underwent intensive phases of learning, research, and empowerment through the lens of global education and global issues. The entire journey was developed according to a methodology based on the “Performing Change” training manual, which innovatively bridges non-formal education and the performing arts. The performances included: These details demonstrate that each group utilized the “Global Art Fusion” workshops to deeply explore local contexts and community regeneration through the perspective of global citizenship
